Melania Trump’s Absence Raises Questions: “It’s Getting Worse Every Day”

During Donald Trump’s inauguration, Melania Trump stood by his side, but since then, her presence in Washington has noticeably diminished, leaving many wondering about her role as First Lady this time around.

Melania previously opened up about her priorities in an interview with Fox News, saying, “I will be in the White House. And you know when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York. When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wife. And once we are in on January 20, you serve the country.”

Her devotion to her son Barron has always been a central focus, something the public is well aware of. While President Trump recently made headlines as the first sitting president to attend the Super Bowl, Melania was notably absent.

However, she did accompany her husband on a trip to Los Angeles last month, where they met with victims of the wildfires. A video of Melania speaking Slovenian to a woman during the visit went viral, earning widespread praise online.

Seeing Melania so much more involved this time around is amazing,” one social media user commented, according to the Irish Star. Another added, “When we speak to people in their native tongue, they feel heard, they feel listened to, they feel the love! What an incredible First Lady.”

A third wrote, “Even in a ballcap, Melania shows her beauty and grace.”

Despite this public moment, Melania has remained out of the spotlight during Trump’s meetings with world leaders and key political figures. According to People Magazine, a source revealed that she’s currently focused on filming a documentary about her life, which has kept her away from official duties.

“This is how she lives,” the source said. “She will never be a traditional first lady and has her own ideas on what she wants to do.”

Melania’s recent visits to the White House have reportedly been linked to her documentary filming schedule. A political insider based in Miami confirmed, “Melania has been busy shooting her documentary, which has taken place in several locations, including the White House.”

The project follows the success of her memoir Melania and aims to give viewers an inside look at her life.

Speaking to Fox News, she explained, “I had an idea to make a film about my life. My life is incredibly busy, and I told my agent to make a deal for me. We started the production in November, and we’re shooting right now. It’s a day-to-day look at my life—what I do, what responsibilities I have—things people don’t really know.”

CNN reported that Melania did attend the recent Governors Ball, though she has yet to assume any formal First Lady responsibilities.

A source explained, “[Donald and Melania Trump] both live at Mar-a-Lago and have quarters in the White House, but she leads her own life and joins him when appropriate in either place.” When in Palm Beach, Melania reportedly keeps a low profile, occasionally joining the former president for dinner.

Controversial author Michael Wolff, who has often criticized Trump, claimed that members of Trump’s campaign team “didn’t even know where Melania lived.”

“She doesn’t live with him,” he said on the Daily Beast podcast. “They spend very little time together. Whenever she’s at the White House or Mar-a-Lago, it’s like she’s a guest. She basically lives in Trump Tower now.”

He added that at the Republican National Convention, Melania refused to sit next to Donald and only appeared on the final day under the condition that he not be in the VIP box.

The Trump team has pushed back on these claims. While the couple has not publicly responded to Wolff’s remarks, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung offered a sharp rebuttal.

“Michael Wolff is a lying sack of s*** and has been proven to be a fraud,” Cheung told Newsweek. “He routinely fabricates stories from his sick and warped imagination. His Trump Derangement Syndrome has clearly rotted his brain.”

Despite ongoing speculation, Melania made a rare public appearance on April 1 at the Women of Courage Award Ceremony. She received a warm welcome and delivered a powerful speech wearing a leopard-print dress.

“Love has inspired me to embrace forgiveness, nurture empathy, and exhibit bravery in the face of unforeseen obstacles,” she said.

“Today, we celebrate courage — a strength that is based in love,” she continued. “We are honored to join an exceptional assembly of brave women who have shown their love and refuse to let fear or hardship define them. Their collective achievements and dedication move us all.”
